The Inner Struggle

Today’s Scripture Romans 7:13-25 13 Did that which is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin,producing death in me through what is good, in order that sin might beshown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinfulbeyond measure. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of theflesh, sold under sin. 15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do notdo what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do notwant, I agree with the law, that it is good. 17 So now it is no longer I who do it,but sin that dwells within me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me,that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not theability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do notwant is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is nolonger I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close athand. 22 For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, 23 but I see in mymembers another law waging war against the law of my mind and makingme captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24 Wretched manthat I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to Godthrough Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God withmy mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

The Attitude of Worship

Today’s Scripture Exodus 20:7 “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD willnot hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

Footprints of Jesus: Suffering in the Sight of God

Today’s Scripture 1 Peter 2:18-25 18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the goodand gentle but also to the unjust. 19 For this is a gracious thing, when,mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 20 For whatcredit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if whenyou do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sightof God. 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered foryou, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 Hecommitted no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he wasreviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten,but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himselfbore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live torighteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you werestraying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer ofyour souls.

The Manner of Worship

Today’s Scripture Exodus 20:4-6 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness ofanything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is inthe water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them,for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fatherson the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep mycommandments.
